Souk Ahras is a municipality located in Algeria. It serves as the capital of the Souk Ahras Province.
The city was constructed on the ruins of Thagaste, an ancient Numidian city. This historical site was a significant center of Berber culture and is notable as the birthplace of Augustine of Hippo.
