Tebessa, historically known as the classical city of Theveste, is the capital city of the Tébessa Province located in northeastern Algeria. It is situated near the national border with Tunisia and served as a significant historical site in the region.
The city is characterized by several notable landmarks, most significantly its surrounding wall and various gates. Additionally, Tebessa is recognized for its production of traditional Algerian carpets. As of 2007, the city had a population of over 190,000 residents.
