Messad is a town and commune located in the Djelfa Province of Algeria. It is situated within the Ouled Naïl region on the margin of the Saharan Atlas steppe.
The settlement is supported by an oasis and wadi system that facilitates local agriculture. Historically, the modern town is associated with the Roman frontier outpost known in antiquity as Castellum Dimmidi, which is also recorded locally as Ksar el-Baroud.
