Ghazaouet is a town and commune located in the Tlemcen Province of northwestern Algeria. According to the 2008 census, the area has a population of 33,774 residents. The town is characterized by its mountainous hills, beaches, and proximity to ports where locals engage in swimming and diving near fishing boats.
The region is well known for providing daily fresh seafood, specifically sardines, mackerels, and red snappers. Additionally, the port of Ghazaouet serves as a point of entry for Algerians arriving by boat from Almeria, Spain. The town is also the birthplace of comedian Abdelkader Secteur.
A notable local landmark is the Lighthouse of Nemours, which residents refer to as "Deux Frères." This rock formation is climbable via a ladder and staircase that leads to the top of the lighthouse. It is a popular site for locals who dive and jump from heights of 95 meters into the water.
