San Francisco de Macorís is a city located in the northeast portion of the Dominican Republic within the Cibao region. It serves as the capital of the Duarte Province and has been ranked as the sixth most populated city in the country since 2010.

The name of the city is derived from a combination of Saint Francis, who is the patron saint of the Franciscan Order, and Macorix, which was the historical name of the territory.
