Svendborg is a town located on the island of Funen in south-central Denmark. It serves as the seat of Svendborg Municipality and is the second largest city on the island, with a population of 27,593.
The town is situated approximately 44.2 kilometres south of Odense and 195 kilometres southwest of Copenhagen. Historically, Svendborg celebrated its 750th anniversary as a market town in 2003 and was designated as Denmark's "Town of the year" in 2000.
