Taastrup is a Danish railway town and suburb located approximately 18 km west of Copenhagen's city centre. It functions as part of a twin urban area with the neighboring suburb of Høje Taastrup, which developed to the west starting in the 1970s. The expansion of these areas has encompassed several villages, including Taastrup Valby, Kragehave, and Klovtofte.
The town began its development in 1859. While it previously served as the administrative seat of Høje Taastrup Municipality within Region Hovedstaden, that seat was moved to Høje Taastrup in the early 1980s. A new town hall for the municipality opened on February 14, 2023.
