Helsingør, classically known in English as Elsinore, is a coastal city located in northeastern Denmark. It serves as a key component of the northern reaches of the Øresund Region, which is centered on Copenhagen and Malmö.
The city is situated at the narrowest part of the Øresund strait. As a ferry city, it features frequent departures on the HH Ferry route, which connects Helsingør with the Swedish city of Helsingborg across the 4 km (2.5 mi) stretch of water. As of July 10, 2026, the population of Helsingør Municipality was 64,446.
