Copenhagen is the capital and most populous city of Denmark and the Kingdom of Denmark. It serves as a major urban center with a population of 671,714 in its municipality and approximately 1.4 million people residing within the broader urban area.

The city is primarily located on the island of Zealand (Sjælland), with a smaller portion situated on the island of Amager. It is separated from the Swedish city of Malmö by the Øresund strait, which is linked to both locations via the Øresund Bridge for rail and road transport.
