Moabit is an inner city locality situated within the borough of Mitte in Berlin, Germany. It first saw habitation in 1685 and was officially incorporated into the city of Berlin in 1861. As of 2022, the neighborhood had a population of approximately 84,000 residents.
Historically characterized as an industrial and working-class area, Moabit is geographically defined by three surrounding watercourses that establish its present-day borders. During the period between 1945 and 1990, the locality was located within the British sector of West Berlin and shared a direct border with East Berlin.
