Birkenhügel is a village located in the district of Saale-Orla-Kreis within the state of Thuringia, Germany. It historically functioned as an independent municipality before being integrated into a larger administrative area.
As of January 1, 2019, Birkenhügel became part of the municipality of Rosenthal am Rennsteig. The village remains a recognized locality within this current municipal structure.
