Sangerhausen is a town located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in central Germany. It serves as the capital of the Mansfeld-Südharz district and is situated approximately 35 kilometres east of Nordhausen and 50 kilometres west of Halle (Saale). The town lies southeast of the Harz region.
As of 2020, the population of Sangerhausen was approximately 26,000 people. It functions as a primary administrative center for its surrounding district within the state's geographical boundaries.
