Halle-Neustadt

Halle-Neustadt, commonly referred to as HaNeu, is a district located in Germany. It was originally established as an independent and autonomous city within the German Democratic Republic (GDR) on May 12, 1967.

The population of the city grew significantly during its period of independence, rising from 51,600 in 1972 to more than 93,000 by 1981. On May 6, 1990, Halle-Neustadt was merged back into the city of Halle.

Since the merger, the population has decreased by approximately half. As of December 31, 2010, the area had a population of about 45,157 inhabitants.
