Wurzen is a town located in the state of Saxony, Germany. It is situated within the district Leipzig Land (voting) and Muldental. The town is positioned approximately 25 kilometers east of Leipzig.

The geography of Wurzen is defined by its location next to the river Mulde, which is crossed by two bridges. For transportation, the town is accessible by rail via the main line connecting Riesa and Dresden, located northeast of Leipzig.
