Meissen is a town located in the Free State of Saxony in eastern Germany. It is situated on both banks of the River Elbe, approximately 25 km (16 mi) northwest of Dresden and 75 km (47 mi) west of Bautzen. The town has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants and serves as the administrative seat of the Meissen district.
The town is well-known for its cultural and historical landmarks, including the Albrechtsburg castle, the Gothic Meissen Cathedral, and the Meissen Church of Our Lady. Additionally, Meissen is renowned as the home of Meissen porcelain.
