Grünhainichen is a municipality located in the Erzgebirgskreis district within the state of Saxony, Germany. The administrative boundaries of the town have evolved through several mergers and incorporations over recent decades.
On March 1, 2009, the municipality merged with its neighbor, Waldkirchen. Additionally, the former municipality of Borstendorf was integrated into Grünhainichen on January 1, 2015.
