Wolin is an island located in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Poland. Administratively, it belongs to the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The island covers an area of 265 km2 (102 sq mi) and features a maximum elevation of 116 meters above sea level at Mount Grzywacz.
The geography of the island is defined by its surrounding waterways; it is separated from the island of Usedom (Uznam) by the Strait of Świna and from mainland Pomerania by the Strait of Dziwna. The region's population is approximately 30,000 people. While the eastern suburbs of the city of Świnoujście extend onto the island, the towns of Międzyzdroje and Wolin are situated further to the east.
