Neuruppin is a town located in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It serves as the administrative seat of the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district.
The town is notable for its historical architecture and cultural significance. Following a devastating fire in 1787, much of the area was rebuilt in a Neoclassical style. Due to this architectural history and its status as a garrison town since 1688, it has earned the reputation of being "the most Prussian of all Prussian towns."
Neuruppin is also recognized as the birthplace of the novelist Theodor Fontane (1819–1898). In recognition of this literary connection, the town is frequently referred to as Fontanestadt.
