Plön is a city located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It serves as the district seat for the Plön district and has a population of approximately 8,700 inhabitants.
The town is situated on the shores of the Great Plön Lake, which is the largest lake in Schleswig-Holstein. Numerous smaller lakes surround the town on nearly all sides. A notable landmark of the area is Plön Castle, a chateau constructed in the 17th century that sits on a hill overlooking the town.
