Pinneberg is a town situated in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. It serves as the administrative capital of the district of Pinneberg and currently has a population of approximately 43,500 inhabitants.
The town is located roughly 18 km northwest of the city center of Hamburg. It functions as a regional hub within its surrounding district in the northern part of the country.
