Geesthacht is a city located in northern Germany within the state of Schleswig-Holstein. It serves as the largest city in the District of the Duchy of Lauenburg and is situated on the right bank of the River Elbe.
The city is positioned approximately 34 kilometres (21 mi) southeast of Hamburg. Geesthacht is bordered by Dassendorf to the north.
