Fahrenkrug is a municipality located in the district of Segeberg within the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The municipality encompasses the villages of Rotenhahn and Ziegelei.
The area was first documented in 1192 under the name Varencroch and was historically associated with the monastery of Bad Segeberg. The etymology of the original name refers to a "fern and corner," symbols which are featured on the municipality's coat of arms.
