Bovenau is a village located in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde within the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is situated at an elevation of only 16 metres (52 ft) above sea level.
The village is positioned south of the municipality of Bünsdorf or Sehestedt, and north of Ostenfeld and Bredenbek. It lies west of Krummwisch and is located approximately 20 km (12 mi) from the center of Kiel.
