Molsheim is a commune and subprefecture located in the Bas-Rhin department within the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. As of 2023, the city has a total population of 9,318 inhabitants. It serves as the center of an urban unit with approximately 27,000 residents and is part of the metropolitan area of Strasbourg.
The city experienced a period of rapid growth between the French censuses of 1968 and 1999, during which the population increased from 5,739 to 9,335. This growth trend has since reached a noticeable halt.
