Merzalben is a municipality located in the Südwestpfalz district of Rhineland-Palatinate, in western Germany. The village derives its name from the Merzalbe, also known as the Merzalb, which flows through the area. Historical records for the municipality date back to 1237.
As part of the Verbandsgemeinde Rodalben, Merzalben is the largest community in the collective by physical area, though it holds the smallest population among the six member Ortsgemeinden. The village was previously designated as a state-approved tourist resort until that title was removed from Rhineland-Palatinate in 2016 and officially barred for all communities in 2020.
