Wipperfürth, also known as the Hanseatic City of Wipperfürth, is a municipality located in the Oberbergischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approximately 40 kilometers north-east of Cologne.
The town holds historical significance as the oldest settlement in the Bergischen Land region. In the local dialect, which is a Bergish variety of the Limburgish language, the municipality is still referred to as Weperevorthe.
