Warburg is a town located in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, situated in central Germany. It lies on the river Diemel near the three-state point shared by Hessen, Lower Saxony, and North Rhine-Westphalia. Geographically, it is positioned within the Höxter district and the Detmold region.
The town serves as the midpoint of the Warburger Börde. Since March 2012, it has been officially permitted to identify itself as the Hanseatic City of Warburg.
