Minden is a middle-sized town located in the northeastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It serves as the capital of the district of Minden-Lübbecke and is situated within the cultural region of Ostwestfalen-Lippe (OWL) and the administrative region of Detmold. In terms of population, it is the largest town positioned between Bielefeld and Hanover.
The town is geographically defined by its position along both sides of the River Weser. A notable piece of infrastructure in the area is the Mittelland Canal, which crosses over the river via the Minden Aqueduct.
