Mettmann is a town located in the northern part of the Bergisches Land region in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated geographically east of Düsseldorf and west of Wuppertal.
The town serves as the administrative center for the district of Mettmann, which is recognized as Germany's most densely populated rural district. A local variety of the Limburgish language known as Metmannsch Platt is spoken within the town.
