Mechernich is a town located in the district of Euskirchen in the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated within the Eifel hills and the Naturpark Nordeifel region, approximately 15 km southwest of Euskirchen and 55 km from Cologne.
Historically, Mechernich served as a former mining town. The municipality celebrated its 700th anniversary in 2009. The local football club is known as TUS Mechernich.
