Lünen is a town located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Situated north of Dortmund, it lies on both banks of the River Lippe and serves as the largest town within the Unna district.
The town is part of the Ruhr Area and has a population of approximately 86,000 inhabitants.
