Langendreer is the largest and most populous district of the city of Bochum, located in the Ruhr area of Germany. As of December 31, 2023, the district has a population of 25,438. It serves as the easternmost district of Bochum and is situated between the cities of Dortmund to the east and Witten to the south.
The district includes several areas such as Kaltehardt, Langendreerholz, and Ümmingen, while bordering the districts of Langendreer-Alter Bahnhof, Bochum-Laer, Bochum-Querenburg, and Bochum-Werne. It is served by two railway stations: Bochum-Langendreer station, one of the city's largest, and Bochum-Langendreer West station.
Historically, Langendreer was a primary center for the East Prussian minority in Western Germany. The village and administrative district were incorporated into the city of Bochum on August 1, 1929, primarily because Bochum lacked the freight station capacities that Langendreer provided.
