Höxter is a town located in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the river Weser, approximately 52 km north of Kassel. The town lies within the heart of the Weser Uplands and serves as the administrative seat of the Höxter district.
The Höxter district has a total population of 30,000 people, with the city of Höxter accounting for about half of that figure. Historically, the town is associated with the place names Hoxer and Huxaria.
