Geilenkirchen is a town located in the district of Heinsberg within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Wurm and lies near the border with the Netherlands.
The town is positioned approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) north-east of Heerlen and about 20 km (12.4 mi) north of Aachen.
