Winzenburg

Winzenburg is a village and former municipality located in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony, Germany. Situated in the Leinebergland region north of Bad Gandersheim, it lies between the Harz and Weserbergland national parks. Since November 1, 2016, Winzenburg has been part of the municipality of Freden.

The area comprises four smaller communities: Winzenburg, Schildhorst, Westerberg, and Klump. The village of Winzenburg itself dates back to the Middle Ages. The original municipality was formed on March 1, 1974, by merging these four previously independent communities.
