Weener is a town located in the district of Leer within the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. Situated on the river Ems, it lies near the border with the Netherlands.
The town has a population of 15,654 residents, making it the largest town in the Rheiderland region. It is served by railway and autobahn connections that provide transport links to Groningen in the Netherlands, as well as to Emden and Bremen.
