Varel is a town located in the district of Friesland within the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the Jade River and the Jade Bight, positioned approximately 15 kilometres south of Wilhelmshaven and 30 kilometres north of Oldenburg.
As of 2020, Varel had a population of 23,984 residents, making it the largest town in the district of Friesland.
