Osterode am Harz, frequently referred to simply as Osterode, is a town situated in south-eastern Lower Saxony within central Germany. It is geographically positioned on the south-western edge of the Harz mountains.
The town served as the seat of government for the district of Osterode and is located along the German Timber-Frame Road.
