Lengede

Lengede is a municipality located in the district of Peine within the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 18 kilometers southwest of Braunschweig and 40 kilometers southeast of Hanover.

The town gained international recognition in 1963 following a significant mining disaster. The event became widely known as the "Wunder von Lengede" (Miracle of Lengede) due to the successful rescue operation of eleven surviving miners.
