Goslar is a historic town located in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. It serves as the administrative center of the district of Goslar and is situated on the northwestern slopes of the Harz mountain range.
The city is home to several significant historical landmarks, including the Old Town of Goslar, which features over 1,500 timber houses. Both the Old Town and the Mines of Rammelsberg are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These sites are recognized for their millennium-long history regarding ore mining and their political significance within the Holy Roman Empire and the Hanseatic League.
Goslar also hosts an annual cultural tradition where it awards the Kaiserring to an international artist. This honor is frequently referred to as the "Nobel Prize" of the art world.
