Cuxhaven is a port town and the seat of the Cuxhaven district located in Lower Saxony, Germany. Situated on the shore of the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River, the city encompasses the northernmost point of the state. The town has a footprint measuring 14 kilometres from east to west and 7 kilometres from north to south.
The city serves as a primary gateway to the Heligoland islands, which function as a tax-free zone off the German coast. Cuxhaven is home to approximately 52,000 residents, with the town quarters of Duhnen, Döse, and Sahlenburg being particularly popular destinations for North Sea vacations.
