Cloppenburg is a town located in Lower Saxony in north-western Germany. It serves as the capital of the Cloppenburg District and is situated within the Oldenburg Münsterland region.

The town is positioned in the Weser-Ems region, approximately 38 km south-south-west of Oldenburg, located between Bremen and the Dutch border. It is accessible via major transportation routes, including the A1 motorway which connects the Ruhr area to Bremen and Hamburg, as well as the federal highway B213.
