Bohmte is a municipality located in the district of Osnabrück within the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated along the river Hunte, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the city of Osnabrück.
The modern boundaries and foundation of today's Bohmte were established as a result of a regional reorganization in 1972. This process involved the consolidation of three previous towns: Bohmte, Herringhausen-Stirpe-Oelingen, and Hunteburg.
