Schwalmstadt is a city located in the northern region of Hesse, Germany. It serves as the largest town within the Schwalm-Eder district.
The municipality was established in 1970 following the amalgamation of the towns of Treysa and Ziegenhain, along with several outlying villages, to form the current administrative entity.
