Gelnhausen is a town located in the state of Hesse, Germany. It serves as the capital of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis district and is one of eleven towns within that administrative area.
The town is situated along the river Kinzig, positioned between the Vogelsberg mountains to the west and the Spessart range to the east. It lies approximately 40 kilometers east of Frankfurt am Main. Gelnhausen has a population of around 22,000 inhabitants.
