Espenau is a municipality located in the district of Kassel within the state of Hesse, Germany. The town is situated approximately 9 kilometers north of the city of Kassel.
The municipality is composed of two distinct districts: Espenau-Hohenkirchen and Espenau-Mönchehof. As of December 2019, the area had a population of 5,158 inhabitants and covers a total land area of 13.59 square kilometers.
