Erlensee is a town located in the Main-Kinzig district of Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the river Kinzig, approximately 5 km northeast of the city of Hanau.
The municipality was formed in 1970 through the merger of the towns of Langendiebach and Rückingen. The name Erlensee is derived from the abundance of alders found at the lakes in this region.
