Baunatal is a town located in the district of Kassel within the state of Hesse, Germany. It is characterized as a comparatively young municipality that was established in 1966.
The town was formed through the fusion of seven formerly independent municipalities: Altenbauna, Altenritte, Großenritte, Guntershausen, Hertingshausen, Kirchbauna, and Rengershausen.
