Alheim is a municipality located in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district within the northeastern region of Hesse, Germany. The town derives its name from the nearby Alheimer Mountain.
The municipality consists of 10 former sovereign villages situated on both banks of the river Fulda. These settlements form the core geographic and historical layout of the area.
