Sonthofen

Sonthofen is a town located in the Oberallgäu region of the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany. It holds the distinction of being the southernmost town in the country. While the neighboring settlement of Oberstdorf is situated 14 km further south, it is classified as a market town rather than a town.

The town has a population of 21,300 inhabitants. In 2005, Sonthofen was recognized with the "Alpenstadt des Jahres" award.
